On the 23rd of July 2020, Formula One in Schools declared the results of its first-ever India Virtual National Finals 2019-20, in which Pathways Gurgaon team – Blitz Falcon 6 – stood 11th out of 80 Schools across India. This came a few months after Blitz Falcon 6 had stood 10th out of 30 teams in the North Indian Regional finals in January 2020. The team also bagged the Award for Best Verbal Presentation as Newcomers.

The competition was inaugurated on the 12^th of July, with teams participating in several rounds throughout. The competition – Formula One in Schools – is an international STEM (Science, Technology Engineering, Mathematics) competition for school children in which groups of 3 to 6 students must design and manufacture a miniature car using professional techniques such as 3D printing, the use of CAD/CAM software, etc.

Throughout this journey, Pathways team, Blitz Falcon 6, portrayed a quality that the world champions, Senna, Hamilton, and Alonso, all have in common and which has helped them succeed, perseverance. They faced many challenges as a newcomer team. Moreover, the unprecedented pandemic proved to be a challenging time for all; both mentally and physically. This was a time that required them to race toward victory regardless of the hurdles that lay in their path.

For the National Finals, our students collaborated virtually due to the pandemic. While crowdfunding helped them to raise funds, their sponsors helped them to gain popularity. For example, their sponsor, Dainik Jagran, published two newspaper articles about F1 in schools and how the team took part in this challenge. This helped them get familiarised with a larger audience and helped them enhance their marketing skills.

F1 in Schools taught our students a range of skills and techniques like how to effectively research, design, create, communicate, persuade, acquire resources and work effectively as a team. More than anything, it encouraged them to learn how to build a team, an identity, a brand, their embodiment, Blitz Falcon 6.
