The MYP Student Council organized a three-day virtual Parent Orientation from 17 to 19 August to explain the parents and guardians about the various events, essentials, and components of Middle School and how the academic year 2020-21 would look like.

The Orientation commenced with an informative yet entertaining showcase that gave the audience a glimpse of all the interesting activities that students had been a part of during school. From cooking competitions to photography tasks, it was evident how much enthusiasm the students had been showing and how well they had adapted to this new medium of virtual learning. The results for the MYP Batch of 2020 were proudly presented and the accolades of students were shared.

The student leaders also discussed the importance of social service in the Middle Years Program. They explained the significance of service projects and the various actions that the school has been taking to help develop the villages in Aravali. This was followed by the introduction of IGCA, Pulse and the IAYP Award.

The session on assessments was conducted in which the MYP program, requirements for an MYP certificate and MYP subjects was also discussed. This was summed up by a short video that further explained in a nutshell, what assessments in MYP look like.

There was a session on the ATL Skills which helped the parents understand their link with the IB Learner profile. The parents also got an opportunity to see some student samples for a few of the activities that were done in class.

One of the most interactive sessions was the College Advisory where parents were extremely keen to know about the extra-curricular events the school offers which can be beneficial for further college applications. The session also included information about various student conferences, and awards, academic tests like PSAT and ISFO and goal setting. They were also introduced to Cialfo and its use.

The closing ceremony was a showcase of all that was discussed in the sessions across the three days. It gave a true essence of how school had become even more engaging and productive during these virtual times. This was followed by the screening of the Independence Day celebration where students had collaborated and compiled music, dance, and drama in the form of a short video. With a lovely song composed by the MYP Music Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Brown, the closing ceremony ended and bowed to the success the first online Parent Orientation had been.
